Because exclusion in medical studies. Because lack of representation in research grants. Because male data encoded into AI.  Because pinkwashing. Because old playbooks. Because lame, pastel stock photography. Because algorithm sensationalism & exploitation. Because harmful beauty standards. Because rape culture. Because the teen mental health crisis. Because invisible labor. Because bias in data. Because crash test dummies. Because pain thresholds. Because male diagnostic criteria. Because the burden of contraception. Because default office temperatures. Because virtual assistants coded female. Because inaccuracies in speech-to-text software. Because policing bodily autonomy.  Because facial recognition not built for women of color.  Because less than 2% of all VC money goes to female founders. Because tiny, ridiculous, unusable pockets. Because the pink tax. Because nobody cares what the male senator wore. Because intersecting racial and gender bias in diagnosis and pain management. Because maternal mortality rates. Because the pelvic floor. Because matrescence. Because birth control side effects. Because delivering a baby without pain management is moralized as natural. Because the $3 Billion ED market.  Because male nurse is a thing.  Because “hormonal variability.” Because actual hormonal variability. Because hysteria. Because stress-related. Because psychosomatic. But also because elephants, the greatest matriarch in the animal kingdom, find the path to fresh water, even in times of deep drought. Because earned wisdom. Because alert circles for the vulnerable. Because ancestral memory. Because community. Because nurturing should come from everyone. Because a woman’s voice was never allowed to take up this much space before, thank you for reading. Because rage is not enough. Because information is power. Because our kids. Because your kids. Because the proverbial village. Because the moral arc. Because brands can affect positive change. Because quality comms can affect health outcomes. Because emotional integrity can support the bottom line. Because good strategy is an exercise in listening and caring. Because good work is acting upon that listening and caring. Because we can solve big problems, but only if we care to do so together. 

Because we need new architects.
